Fees

We understand neurofeedback is an investment in your mental and physical health. The benefits and the potential of neurofeedback could outweigh the cost in the long term. It is essential to have an open and transparent discussion about the pricing and payment options available.

Initial Consultation

The first step in determining the potential for using Neurofeedback training in your treatment is to schedule an initial consultation.  During this 50-minute session, it will be determined whether you are a viable candidate for Neurofeedback therapy, if you should consider treatments other than Neurofeedback, or whether a combination of treatments should be considered.  You will also have the opportunity to ask any additional questions.  The fee for the initial consultation is $150.

Evaluation and Testing

If Neurofeedback is considered appropriate for you, the next step would be to be scheduled for an evaluation and testing.  It is desirable to complete testing without any stimulants, so if you can discontinue caffeine for five days before testing, this is optimal.  If you or your child are on stimulants (such as Ritalin, Concerta, Dexedrine, or Adderal), testing can be done in the morning before the morning dose is taken.  The evaluation and testing takes 30 minutes and are then reviewed in session and are suggested to be done in the morning.  The fee for this session is $135 and includes going over the results.

How long does training take?

For clinical conditions, Neurofeedback is often used as an additional, short-term treatment, along with more traditional therapy.  For specific performance enhancement, such as in sports, public speaking, and the workplace, neurofeedback can be a short-term treatment by itself. After the evaluation, the Neurofeedback sessions can then be scheduled.  They are scheduled in blocks of 20 and should be done at least twice weekly.  Sessions are approximately 45 to 55 minutes long.  During the session, the clinician will hook small electrodes to specific places on your head depending on your unique needs, and you’ll play a game or watch a movie on a computer screen. Through careful tuning, the Neurofeedback technician adjusts the settings so that you receive rewards based on optimal brainwave patterns.

Since Neurofeedback is a learning process that involves training, results occur over time.  For most conditions, progress is seen within about 10 sessions.  For ADHD, about 20-40 sessions may be needed, depending on severity.  Once the brain learns to regulate itself properly, it remembers what it learns and works more efficiently.  The average number of sessions is 40-50, with some conditions responding before 40;  others are more difficult and require more.  Some individuals will begin to notice changes after just a few sessions, but in some of the more complicated cases, significant benefits will not be noted until after 60 or more sessions.  Please expect to undergo at least 40 sessions.  Although it is likely that improvements will be noticed before 20 sessions, they may not be sustained without continued sessions.  There appears to be a cumulative benefit of the number of sessions undergone.  Neurofeedback sessions are $135 per session if paid after each session.  If prepaid in advance for 20 sessions, the discounted fee per session comes to $90.  Over a 30% discount is applied to advance payments of 20 sessions (20 neurofeedback sessions @$90) for a total of $1800.00 plus TOVA test (pre and post, $2,220).

Can I take medication during neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback can begin whether or not you take medication.  Many individuals seek Neurofeedback because it is a medication-free alternative for reducing and eliminating disruptive symptoms.  Individuals who do not respond well to medication may benefit from Neurofeedback.   The fundamental difference between medication and Neurofeedback is that medication is a chemical regulation, whereas Neurofeedback is self-regulation.  Neurofeedback trains the brain to regulate itself.

What does neurofeedback cost?
